As many of you likely already know, the Vadnais Dome will not be available for the foreseeable future, so the WBBA Board has been busy putting a plan in place to make sure that all WBBA players still have many opportunities for winter training during January – March. Because we won’t have access to a facility the size of the dome, we will need to be a little more structured in our approach for making sure we maximize our time and investment, so we wanted to get you all some information as early as possible.
For January & February, we have partnered with the Blizzard Academy in Vadnais Heights (located less than a mile west of the dome) to offer four 1-hour sessions on Sunday afternoons/early evenings. Each 1-hour session will be limited to 25 players in order to maximize space and reps, and all players will be required to register for each session and pay $5 per hour (you can register for more than 1 hour per day if you so choose). These sessions will be run by WBBA volunteers as well as our WBHS players and coaches.
Look for registration for the sessions at Blizzard Academy to open by mid-December and remain open for all of January & February in order to offer the greatest amount of flexibility for families who will be juggling busy schedules.
During March, we will have multiple “larger group” sessions at the Bethel University fieldhouse, with the goal of getting all players some time in a larger facility prior to tryouts at the end of March (tryouts will also likely be held at Bethel). More info to come at a later date regarding the training at Bethel.
For any players who are seeking additional training this winter, we are proud to promote group hitting and defense training from the Blizzard Academy and their professional coaching staff. Players will be grouped together appropriately by age with a coach to player ratio of 1:6 or better. For more information, please visit these links:
