About Traveling

Our traveling program is more competitive and you travel and play other teams in the metro area. Teams are built from tryouts which are scored by independent parties. Players are placed on teams based on their scores and evaluations AAA/AA/A depending on number of kids and teams per grade. Plan on 3-4 days a week and on average 3-4 weekend tournaments.

For more information on tryouts, check out our tryout page under registration.

Traveling FAQs:

Q: What is the time commitment for traveling baseball?

A: Traveling teams typically have a combination of games and practices that total four days per week (often two games and two practices per week).  Teams typically participate in three tournaments, so please plan for some weekend baseball.

Q: What is the difference between AAA/AA/A?

AAA: This is the highest competitive level in Minnesota. This level of play consists of teams that are comprised of the top players within a local traveling association.

AA: This is the intermediate level of play. The AA level is intended for teams from baseball associations that have already provided teams at the AAA level. AA may also (in some cases) be defined as a level for traveling teams that are not currently able to compete at the AAA level.

A: This is the developmental level of traveling baseball. The A level is often used to place teams trying to prepare for a higher level of play.

Q: How long does the traveling season last?

A: The season starts after teams are selected in early April, and the season ends mid-July, depending on how far the team advances into their playoffs.

Q: How far do we travel for games?

A: Half of your games will be home games in White Bear Lake.  The other half of your games will be “road” games located within the metro area (some teams may have 1 or 2 games on the "outskirts" of the metro area ie. Rogers, St. Francis, Delano).  Teams also typically play in three tournaments; two of those tournaments are typically within the metro area, and one tournament will be an out of town hotel trip.

Q: How much does traveling baseball cost?

A: The registration fee for traveling baseball can be found on the registration tab on the WBBA website.  Additionally, there is typically a team fee that covers tournaments, additional uniforms, end of year banquet, etc. , and these team fee can be offset by team sponsorship's or fundraising efforts.
